We all have things that need our attention. We may need to recaulk the shower stall or have the carpet in the hallway cleaned, but tend to ignore those things that aren’t calling out the loudest for our attention.
As a dentist in Macomb County, this is what I see sometimes when it comes to patient smiles. There may be cosmetic enhancements that have been delayed (“not enough time right now,” or “probably need to save more first”), or tooth replacement options that are put off for years (“it’s a tooth that isn’t seen when I smile,” or “I want to see how much my tax refund will be first”).
I get it. Some procedures in dentistry involve a set of decisions that include time, cost, and being confident in the outcome will be to the high standards of a trusted dentist. Let’s look at those three issues.
Our Shelby Township MI dental office has made a tremendous investment in some of the industry’s most advanced technology. These technologies were chosen with the goal to create the most conservative, yet effective, treatment plans possible. These features can save you treatment time while supporting optimal results.
Many procedures are completed within one or two visits. For those whose treatment needs will require lengthy appointments, some patients opt to have oral sedation included so they are able to relax fully throughout their care. This also enables us to combine several appointments into one longer one, so the time issue is even less of an obstacle.
“Should I have the house repainted?” “Should I have the car repaired or get a new one?” “Is a cruise to Italy really going to be worth the grand total?” How we advise patients who are contemplating dental procedures that will improve appearance, oral health, self-esteem, and self-confidence is this: Look at the value of where you are placing your money and list out the areas you feel will add the most to your life. For example, if the confidence of a smile makeover will make you feel more likely to laugh, smile, be social and feel more upbeat, then it’s going to be hard to compare those benefits against others, especially in lieu of the longevity you’ll receive from your smile – something you’ll have for years and years (if not a lifetime).
We all want the most for our hard-earned money, especially in a day and age where a dollar is stretched to the seams. As the one who will have the new and improved smile, it’s value for now and what’s to come can be calculated only by you.
Whenever I take my car to a mechanic, I hold my breath that, if indeed it does need work, the work recommended will be based on what is truly needed and will be done to be best standards possible. We all know the dread of driving out of an auto repair facility only to hear the same sound we heard before, or to see the warning light come back on within days of having spent time and money to have the issue resolved.
Here, in our Shelby Township dental office, we have a longstanding reputation for smile enhancement, restoring smiles, and providing such excellent results that are beyond expectations.
For example, my aesthetic skills in cosmetic dentistry take into consideration the patient’s facial features so the smile – the shape and shade of teeth and the smile’s gum line – are balanced for a smile that motivates them to smile. (I’ve had patients tell me they look for reasons to smile at people because they know their smile is such a complement to their appearance!)
In addition to our skills is the decision to use one of the nation’s most premier dental labs. These artisans are committed to the highest quality possible, ensuring exceptional longevity and an amazingly natural look in tooth restorations. Each tooth is carefully created and formed to reflect light as a natural tooth as well as have an opalescence that truly mimics the unique makeup of “real” teeth. We feel their artistry in dental restorations are unsurpassed, and certainly superior to those that are “milled” by equipment in a dental office.
Several procedures that seem to be the “big” ones when it comes to dentistry are dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and bite realignment. Each of these has a long list of advantages. However, what tends to cause people to hold off tends to go back to the three areas listed above: Time, Cost & Trust.
When it comes to time, our dental office is respectful of the busy lives of all patients. We have incorporated technology that often reduce treatment time and minimize treatment needs, thus speeding healing time. This technology also, in most cases, helps to maximize comfort levels.
As far as cost, that’s a challenge faced by most Americans these days and our entire team is familiar with these day-to-day challenges. It’s one of the reasons we offer easy payment plans for our patients, so everyone has the opportunity to reap the outstanding benefits of a healthy, confident smile.
Most have no down payment required, no interest, and can break monthly payments into affordable amounts for most budgets. These applications are online HERE or can be completed with the assistance of our Financial Coordinator (in person or by calling). She can also answer questions and perhaps recommend the one(s) that are best options for your individual needs.
Trust is a word that is very important to me. As a dentist for over 25 years, I value the relationships I have with my patients, as well as our amazing staff. Whether a patient has dental fear or is facing the trauma of tooth loss, these things affect me as their “care-giver.” Over the years, it has been my pleasure to tend to the smile needs of whole families, many who brought children who’re now grown and bring their own children.
In addition to my commitment to providing patients with exceptional comfort (including oral and IV sedation), skills, and technology, we know it’s in the satisfaction one receives after choosing to go forward with dental procedures that may have seemed surrounded by obstacles. Hopefully, the challenges of time, cost, and results are not holding you back from a life-changing smile.
Keep in mind an appealing smile that is healthy is an asset to your overall health. Research has shown that your oral health affects your overall health. The oral bacteria of gum disease has been determined to trigger or worsen a number of serious health problems, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes, arthritis, erectile dysfunction, preterm babies, some cancers and even Alzheimer’s disease. It is also a drain to your immune system, leaving you more vulnerable to illnesses.
