Cold Sore & Canker Sore Laser Therapy
CANKER SORES are small white lesions that can occur anywhere inside the mouth. They cause a burning, painful sensation. They are not contagious. These occur due to trauma, stress, or certain acidic foods.
Laser therapy can halt their progression and reduce pain in a day or so. They otherwise can last up to 2 weeks.
COLD SORES are blisters that typically occur on the upper or lower lip. A cold sore is caused by the Virus called Herpes Simplex. 3.7 Billion people under the age of 50 get this.
A cold sore is contagious. This virus remains dormant in the nerve cells in your skin, making it hard to predict exactly when and how the next outbreak will be triggered.
The most common triggers are:
- stress
- fatigue
- hormonal changes
- injury to skin
- unusual exposure to sunlight and wind
Cold sores are best treated with our laser when the very first symptom arises. Tingling or burning sensation is the first sign that a cold sore is about to erupt. However, the lesion can still be treated in the later stage but is most effective in its first stage.
Most patients notice significant improvement after laser treatment. The cold sore will dry up and fall off, shortening the cold sore to almost half of its normal duration of 14 days.
