Improve Your Smile, Beautifully!
A friend recently used chalk paint on an old, wooden chest. It went from a piece that sat in her attic to one holding a prominentplace in her foyer.
It reminded me of how drastically appearance can be changed, often with alternations that take very little time. This is certainly true for a smile. For many, just an affordable, one-hour whitening process can transformteeth that are dull or discoloredto create a more appealing, more-youthfulsmile.
Very few of us are born with a beautiful smile. However, modern techniques, materials, and technology can nowovercome smile flaws — and with natural appeal. Chipped, broken, discolored, crooked, and mis-shapened teeth can be repairedbeautifully, often in only two visits.
Cosmetic dentistry options include:
Porcelain Veneers: Porcelain offers exceptional durability, resists staining and even reflects light as natural teeth. Porcelain veneers and crowns also provide excellent longevity.
Gum Recontouring: Reshaping the tissues that arch teeth can often make a dramatic changeto the appearance of a smile. In our office, we use a dental laser for precision and comfort.
Whitening: Our patients like ourZoom II whitening system,an affordable in-office process that lightens the shade of natural teeth. Results are far superior than drug store kits and provides exceptional longevity.
Bonding: To reshape natural teeth, repair teeth that are chipped, orfill in gapped teeth, bonding offers an affordable option that is typicallyperformed in a single visit.
As a neuro-muscular dentist, I also incorporate measures for proper bite alignment in each treatment plan. This helps to minimize the risk of developing problems associated with misalignment and TMJ disorder.

ADVANCED TRAINING:
TMJ (Jaw Joint) Disorders & Sleep Apnea
In March and May, some members of my team joined me in completing over 45 hours of training in new advancements to treat disorders associated with the TMJ (jaw joints). The courses were held at the world renowned LVI Global, a training center for dentists and dental specialists.
During this training, we learned the latest in:
- New methods to assess the intricate interaction between head/neck muscles, upper and lower teeth (the ‘bite’), bone structures and jaw joints.
- Finding the true ‘relaxed’ position of the bite and jaw joints for an accurate diagnosis.
- New testing methods; assessing test results accurately.
- Integrating posture assessment in diagnosis.
- New findings between the relationship between TMJ Disorders and Sleep Apnea.
- Advancements in understanding trigger points and trauma.
- Advancements in treating inflammation of the jaw joint(s).
- New developments in treatment using oral appliances and physical therapy.
And much more!
Especially interesting in this training were new findings that correlate jaw joint disorders with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).* Through our neuromuscular dentistry focus, so many sleep apnea patients have had such success through our approach that other dentists are contacting us for assistance.
Our advanced skills and technology in treating TMJ disorders have attracted a large number of patients, many coming from all over Michigan and across state lines to finally resolve years of pain. Some people have suffered for decades with migraines, frequent headaches, dizziness, ear ringing and jaw joint pain before finding a source for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
We also work with area sleep study centers who refer patients who desire the most conservative, yet effective, treatment possible. Our dental sleep appliances are ideal for people who cannot tolerate a CPAP device.

One Dental Implant Can Support Several Teeth
Occasionally, I’ve been in consultations with patients who postponed or avoided Dental Implants because they felt they couldn’t afford them. Since they were missing more than one tooth, they assumed an implant would be needed to replace each one.
Certainly, the number of implants used plays a large part in the treatment cost. However, in most cases, one implant can support two or more missing teeth. Since implants are supported by the jaw bone, teeth held by implants can replace a bridge without needing the support of adjacent teeth. This prevents having to crown two otherwise healthy teeth for the sole purpose of supporting a bridge.
People who wear partials, in particular, are pleased to learn that one implant can support several teeth. This means they can avoid the inconvenience of a removable appliance. They can also eat the foods they love without fear of slips or having trapped food particles cause discomfort to gums.
In our office, we provide all phases of implant dentistry. Additionally, both Oral and I.V. Sedation are available.
Since Dental Implants are designed to last your lifetime, they are an exceptional investment. Ask about payment plans that can break your treatment into easy, monthly payments.
Rather than assume Dental Implants are out of your reach, learn your options during a consultation. You may be pleasantly surprised!
