Occasionally, a patient who moves or changes dental insurance opts to have their dental care at another office. While we always try to work with patients to help them remain in our care, we understand that some feel they need to try out another office for their dentistry.
I’m always flattered by the many patients who return to us for care, some even driving well over an hour so we can continue to tend to their dental needs. We have several who even come across state lines.
When the issue has to do with dental insurance, please know that we accept most insurances but there are some with whom we do not have ‘in-network’ status. This is based upon certain insurance carriers we feel do not support an individualized oral hygiene approach to care. Simply put, we believe our patients deserve more than the bare minimum.
If your policy is with a carrier that does not list us as in-network, please know that you can continue to be a patient or return at any time. We are happy to accept the coverage allowed by your insurance combined with your payment for the overage. This enables you to continue with exceptional care while taking advantage of the coverage allowed. We have many patients who return to us and opt for this arrangement.
In rare occurrences, a patient leaves due to a misunderstanding. My team and I are all human and sometimes signals get crossed. When there is a problem, it is our desire to arrange a private consultation for the individual so we can discuss ways to overcome any issues. (Or, ask for a phone consultation). It is a loss for us both when a patient leaves in an unhappy state when problems could have been resolved with a simple conversation.
Our patient “re-activation” numbers are high, but, of course, our goal is to not lose them in the first place! If your insurance changes or you ever encounter a problem, let’s address it head on so you can continue to enjoy the standard of care you know you’ll receive in our dental office.
